fun fact, The more you have the less they fly out. With them jumping out, usually this occurs when they are fed due to a physics quirk in the collisions, something the devs have tried repeatedly to fix although its never been perfect (its a thousand times better than it used to be though.).
They literally had code that the incinerator explicitly checked for to determine if the item should be deletable through it. Haven't tested in 1.4.1+, which is the reason I'm not 100% certain, but when i last checked the code and tested, being in 1.4.0b, this could not happen. That way it prevents the fire slimes from escaping and dying and would allow for auto feeding and auto plort collection. How come a fire slime can even get incinerated in the 1st place? Now I have no fire slimes left and I am very confused as to how this even happens, or how the game has been out this long without something like this being fixed. Lastly, right up until the moment it jumped into the incinerator and committed suicide :( I had one fire slime left now so I got into the ash trough and shot it directly below me, it bounced vertically and stayed in the trough SUCCESS :)
Thirdly, the first slime I shot into the middle bounced straight into the incinerator and died, the second one I aimed lower, but it still got incinerated.
